Net worth update – June 2008

by Ryan on June 15, 2008

Some thoughts before the numbers:

Another interesting read from Brip Blaptitled net worth or net worth less, explores the value of net worth analysis beyond that of a simple motivator. Steve outlines four smart pivot points on which this analysis should be hinged while helping to ensure we frame this kind of information in an intelligent fashion. Here are the concerns:

(I edited the wording a little)

  • Calculations may differ from person to person
  • A net worth of $200,000 is valued differently in Erie, Pennsylvania and Stamford, Connecticut
  • Net worth may not clearly show cash flow
  • Net worth might not clearly show risk
It may be a good idea to take these and other items into consideration as you read through statements like this.
Net worth Update highlighting current progress:

Some more hard work this past month and some very generous graduation gifts from a mini party has inched us a little closer to the day of zero. We have also delved a little deeper into the world of alternative income streams and will be writing more about these in a separate post. Take a look at our most up to date alternative income stream spreadsheet while we continue to work to have each reviewed and shared.

This month also marks our first ever SPILLING BUCKET! We now have a fully funded emergency fund providing a buffer between drought and total dehydration.

Overall, we were fortunate enough to be able to increase our total net worth by 7.28% or $2,021.

Here is our historical progress record.

Thanks again to everyone who wrote in on our first ever spilling bucket and goal completion.

We continue to wish all of you the best of luck towards your goals and pursuits.
