Last night I went to the part-time student orientation at the Simon School. I am now officially a part time student with all the perks: a new email account, a new mailbox, a syllabus, and all the paperwork required to register and get tuition benefits.
The orientation was really exciting! I can't wait to be a student again, and I really think that the class I am taking will provide some great experience and new skills.
I am now registered for GBA 411, aka: Framing and Analyzing Business Problems I. It sounds really interesting. Here's an excerpt from the overview from the syllabus:
"Good decision making requires a sound understanding of the problem and an appropriate use of the available information and analytical tools. The objective of this course is to equip you with some basic ideas and tools that are valuable in this regard.I am not great at making business decisions and I am hoping this class will really help me out with that.
While I was there filling out paperwork and listening to them explain the student websites, I realized that blogging has infiltrated my life. The woman who was in charge of the orientation/registration was dressed professionally in a suit and red shoes - and couldn't help but think of Single Ma's post on "Red Shoes and Business Attire" which led to thinking of other blogs I read regularly, and that led me to think of all the posts I haven't completed yet.... It was bad.

Now don't get me wrong, I paid attention when I needed to - but a lot of the stuff I already was familiar with after being an undergrad and then working at the university.
I decided to only take one class this quarter because my job is about to get a lot more busy and the summer session is two weeks shorter than normal; I didn't want to bite off too much right away, and I can still take 2 next quarter before matriculating, if I want to.
So class begins in a couple of weeks, which means I have some time to find books online and get prepared. but from June 18th onward my Wednesday nights will be taken up with class and lab from 5:30-9:50. I can't wait to start...
