New sponsored Kiva entrepreneur: Thank you readers!

by Ryan on July 22, 2008

We received a fantastic surprise from one of our readers!

We were given a $25 donation with some instructions to sponsor a specific individual at Kiva.org on their behalf. Thank you very much!

The recipient’s name is Nguyen Thi Lanand she is from Nghi Loca a district (huyện) of Nghe An Province in the North Central Coastal region of Vietnam.
From her translated profile on Kiva.org:
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lan, 50 years old, joined the TYM Fund since 2001. After 7 years old membership, she has always used the borrowed money in breeding pigs and chickens. Being hardworking, beside working on the rice field, she always spends time on the animal-breeding projects. Because she has a large backyard, breeding chickens is very convenient for her. She usually releases about 200 chickens after 3 months and earns 1200 USD. She currently has 200 chickens and 4 pigs ready to be released. She has 3 children, two of whom are working and the last one is going to school. This time, she wants to borrow 775 USD to invest in her animal-breeding projects. Her average income is 300 USD/month.
We are very honored to be able to help others around the world and find it fascinating to learn a little about their lives and homes as we follow their success over the next while. We have added Nguyen to our growing list of sponsored entrepreneurs at right and will keep everyone posted on her progress.

Its great to see your efforts to help those less fortunate. It's very exciting to follow the progress of those individuals that you sponser and know that you have impacted their lives and that of their children. The Woman that I sponser has a medical clinic in Kenya that helps with the medical needs and education of her small village. Keep up the good work!

It is exciting! How long have you been a sponsor of the woman in Kenya? Any recent updates?
