Interesting…the issue with wind power is if it is not windy, you can't get any power..you therefore need to look at your other sources and coal is a dirty way to get electricity. I don't know a lot about this issue though, so I guess brainstorming solutions and trying them out is a good way to start to fix this problem. There is no bad idea in brainstorming…
I agree, brainstorming certainly is the key. What I liked most about it is someone was actually taking action on a large scale. He looked at what resources we have available and what technologies are in existence: wind is clean and the most abundant, and said OK, this could work, lets go! Oil or no oil I feel we need to have more control over the resources we consume. As he said its not the end all fix and it will be one of many energy sources, but it may lesson the cost of buying time until the next incremental fix is in place.
Just like people are finding they need multiple streams of income, we need multiple streams of clean energy. Wind is certainly an important one. It really won't be that difficult to get free from oil, once we really put our energies into making it happen.
Very good… like what has been said, it's nice to see somebody taking what we have and looking for solutions. We just have to put the right people in office to make stuff like this happen.
On a much smaller scale, my wife and I are just trying to drive less. Period. For example, we'll walk to church, get all of our errands done at once, and occasionally car pool to get from here to there.
TBP has a great plan and he's of such stature that the boneheads in Congress just might listen to him. Plus, he's got a lot of money and is not likely to shy away from "using it" to his advantage.
@Ed, great thought. Multiple streams of clean energy. We need a comprehensive energy policy and PLAN to free ourselves from our dependence on other nations to supply us with basic necessities like energy.
Wind, water, solar, nuclear, coal, oil, natural gas, hamsters…whatever it takes, it'll take a multi-layered approach. But we have to do it. 3 or 4 oil shocks (aka, gouging) should be enough for us to figure out that it will only happen again.
With enough hamsters you can do anything!

I agree with you Bill that it sometimes takes a couple periods of pain before we wake up and actually do something about it. There is talk about actually raising gas taxes if it were to dip back down to normal or "cheap" levels as to avoid repeating the same mistakes again. I agree here and think it may be worth keeping prices high and causing the pain we need to make change.
