Yesterday we did something a little crazy. After shopping at the Dollar Store for Swiffer wet mop refills and going to blockbuster to return disc two of the HBO series John Adams, we went on a really long walk that was about 4.5 miles; and that wasn’t the end of it – we went on a smaller walk later in the afternoon as well, and probably would have gone on a third if it hadn’t started to rain right when we wanted to leave.
Ry and I have been going on walks almost every day since last summer, sometimes two or three times a day. It started off as time alone when we had house guests for an extended period of time, but now is just a way to get out of the house, talk, and have fun. I think these walks are one of the most fun things we do together.
When it comes to evenings or weekends, we are often faced with a dilemma -we want to do something because we have been cooped up all day, we don’t want to spend money, but don’t know what to do. We’ll sit and think for a while, but it often comes down to walking.

It’s strange – we will just come back from walking, and start puttering around the house, but in an hour we both want to head out again! Ryan and I have always enjoyed each others company and just taking time to be together. Sometimes we go on mini trips somewhere and usually enjoy the drive almost as much as the destination. It’s weird that we find so much enjoyment in the process of going somewhere.
What really simple things do you enjoy most?

I love walking. It really is a stress relief for me; it clears your head and allows you to feel calm. The most I walked was for about 1.5 hours. Afterwards I felt great.
Hubby and I really enjoy walking too. We take our dog down to a dog park at the local beach. He runsaround for about a half hour then we walk along the pier and back. One or two circuits and we are all ready to head home.
It really is great stress relief and calming. We try to walk all year, even in winter.
Sometimes when we are out walking I wish we could bring Charlie – but he would be too curious about everything and wouldn't actually walk.
The beach is a great place to walk, I wish it were a little closer here.
I love that you guys just enjoying being together, and that you are willing to wark that far. So many people just drive a mile rather than walk, not having a car I enjoying walking so much more than I ever did before.
We are lucky enough to live pretty close to the grocery store and the main street of our town, so there's a lot nearby. It's a lot of fun to walk places – although having a car can be nice too.
I am surprised more people don't walk, especially in the summer when it's nice outside.
I love walking with BF as well, but when alone as I often am, I love cleaning and laundry. It's not precisely free, but it's therapeutic, and there's nothing quite like settling down for a nice long read in a clean home and fresh clothes in the closet.
