Net Worth: August 2008 +1.40%

by Ry@SpillingBuckets on September 2, 2008

It’s about day 5 of just gorgeous weather. We spent the weekend in Erie visiting family, had dinner and watched fireworks with live music, cruised the peninsula on a boat, had breakfast with Grammy and smoked pulled pork sandwiches on the BBQ for dinner. It was a great extended weekend. We hope your time was enjoyable too.

August 2008 Summary:
We were very fortunate this month to be able to increase our net worth by 1.40% or about $340. As evidenced by the chart below, we continue to progress in the upward direction, however due to recent changes in employment and priorities, the slope has decreased substantially. Ry is continuing to pursue new employment opportunities where he can feel he is part of something more positive and we are continuing to experiment and diversify our income through an increase in alternative income sources, freelance work, and web design education.

Goals:

  • Goal#1: $10k Emergency Fund - Complete @ $10,187.80. Still full and interest growing, no impact.
  • Goal#2: High Interest Student Loans – at $25,491.88. A downward adjustment from last month as I was alerted that one of the last disbursements of the loan contained a now lower variable interest rate of 4.2% instead of 6.8% fixed.
  • Goal#3: House down payment – $0 of $40,000 saved. Since this is currently the third and lowest stacked goal, it may be a little while before we achieve spillover.
