Frugal Idea #2: Starbucks Gift cards for a total of $100.00 at Costco for 79.99. That's saving 20% on coffee. They have gift cards to restaurants and movies too.

Lots of people are wanting to cut back this year. We talked with many people who we usually exchange with and just aren't doing it this year. We'll get together and visit, but without a gift swap.

I also have many things around the house that I'm hoping someone else will want to give as a gift (all in new or like-new condition) that I have or will be posting on craigslist.

I read this before the holidays and thought about how to succeed in it as I tend to overspend yearly for the sake of looking, if not just being, generous. My family normally categorizes me as some kind of great gifter, so there's alot of pressure. So, last night at the family get together, I literally gave away things I had been hording over the years (added bonus – cleaning out the clutter) and several people seemed genuinely pleased with the gifts.

I even waited until most of the other gifts were opened, using recently-discarded wrapping, so the only part that cost money was sandwich bags to hold the folded scarves.

Total cost of 7 presents (not counting the original purchase): 10 cents!
