Net Worth for May 2010: $21,736 -$622

by SpillingBuckets on June 1, 2010

It is pouring rain something fierce this morning which is a welcome occurrence after 4 or 5 perfect sunny warm days that just happened to coincide with time off work, the 2010 Roc City Rib Fest, and Memorial Day. I think it might be a while before we luck out like this again.

Like the ground in our newly planted flower garden our May 2010 net worth is a little soggy but healthy in my opinion.  As of June 1st we stand at $21,736 a loss of a little over $600 from last month.

A few notables took place.  Let’s walk through them:

  • Leslie’s employer made an advanced tax payment from her monthly salary in the amount of $1,200 due to her grad school scholarship’s tax requirements.
  • We made our quarterly car and home insurance payment in May for $382
  • We experienced an investment portfolio value decline of about 6% or $1,306
  • On a positive note we made an extra $1,300 from our business
Here is what things look like from an account type standpoint.
Europe’s gradual slide into chaos and bankruptcy presented a good buying opportunity for global stocks, unless of course you don’t think we will survive either.  In that case we should be putting our money into canned goods, cigarettes, and ammunition.
Here is where we are historically.  Our net worth now looks like a giant cobra, ready to strike fear and venom into June’s temptation to spend money on crap we don’t need and food we shouldn’t eat.  Take that.
